500 days of Summer - 10 years later

This year 500 days of Summer complete 10 years, and Zooey Deschanel met with Joseph Gordon-Levitt to talk about the movie in this cute interview!

Trivia about the Project

When I started the project, in the first few photos I took, I put the camera in movie recording mode to make various poses, and then just captured the frames that interested me. The problem is that it always had one (or two, three, four) cats messing the recording while I was filming! I have 4 cats: Vinil, Miucho, Rabisco and Luvinha. The cat that appears more in the video is Rabisco, which at the time had undergone an eye surgery and was using the cone of shame (he's cured now).

P.S - Some of these looks have been replaced by better version. I even redid all the photos at the end of the project. But it's worth it since it's so funny. hehe

Here's some trivia about the clothes!

The first outfit I bought was the bus scene dress (in July 2013)
The last I bought was the bag of day 488.
The most expensive clothing was the dress from day 403.
The cheapest clothing was from the day 109.
The coolest clothing is from the bike scene.
The warmest clothing is from the day 290.
The hardest to find was the from day 31.
The easiest to find was from day 259.

And to those who ware curious, here's my wardrobe with all the project clothes! Looking at it this way it doesn't seem much, right?

What about the shoes?

Summer's shoes go almost unnoticed in the film. I said "almost" because I noticed! haha #crazy. So I decided to write this post with some of the same shoes (or similar) that she wears in the movie!

Incomplete looks

Unfortunately 6 looks were left out of my project. The reason? They almost don't appear in the movie, most of time you can only see them from the waist up (sometimes not even that!). The five looks are these:

Day 3 - Early on, when Tom is talking to his friend, and see Summer working, concentrated. We can see her wearing a navy blue tank top.

Dau 27 - When the friend tells Tom about Karaoke, and Tom looks at Summer in the hope that she also goes. Summer appears with a baby blue blouse with white shirt below and a bowtie.

Day 48 - When Sumner is in the copy room, singing like crazy on the phone. In the film it looks like a navy blue shirt, but then I found some backstage pictures and I saw that it was actually a navy blue dress.

Day 118 - When Tom and Summer are in the car, going to the cinema. She wears a baby blue blouse, polo collar.

Day 167 - When Tom, seeing Summer, has the inspiration to write the card "I Love Us", she is wearing a sweater over a ruffled blouse.

Day 259 - After the fight, Summer is in bed waiting for the phone to ring. She is wearing a sweater full of frills.

Apartment's Backstage

And when I think I've seen every possible movie reference, behold, I came across the website of Laura Fox, who is the designer producer of the film. In her portfolio I found this amazing video showing the making of the set construction. I show here pictures of Summer's apartment, seen by angles the film does not show! :-D

Here we can see the study for the visual identity of Summer's apartment. Many blue references in the sky and sea, wallpaper, glasses, retro objects, large and luminous windows ...

Followed by two images of the apartment made in autocad. Curious, in the film the desk was on the other wall. And what about that door? Will it lead to the bathroom? Questions, questions ...

Now the most interesting part in my opinion: The exclusive photos of the apartment! By the arrangement of objects, this is the decoration of the scene "Expectations x Reality" (because of the vase of red gerberas). In this photo we can see that the bar also can store other objects at the bottom, like mine! My other question was "Where was Summer's wardrobe ??" Well, it's on that door next to the bed!

Always wondered if Summer watches TV, since we can't see one in the movie. But here it is, in the corner! hehe.

People, look at the dressing table! In the film only it appears at a glance!

In this photo we can see that the bar also can store other objects at the bottom, like mine! My other question was "Where was Summer's wardrobe ??" Well, it's on that door next to the bed!

In this scene you can see a part of kitchen hardly seen in the film. I liked the side table with built-in lamp, and toothpick-feet sofa from the 50!

I loved the scenes and loved the chance to know a little more of the work of Laura Fox and Jennifer Lukehart.

As I searched the internet for references, I found lots of backstage pictures of the movie, some of them quite rare! Here are some of the best I found:

Decoration of the day 408

During the expectations X reality party, we can see a little more of Summer's apartment, this time illuminated by daylight. In the picture I finally see the true color of the origami vase!
 

Here we can see some items from the sideboard. The double picture frame, a box of mother-of-pearl, a flower vase and the Buddha ...

In terrace scene there are two versions, one with table and chairs, and another only with chairs and a coffee table. Notice the lights that decorate the party.

In these scenes what caught my attention was the sideboard, the frame and hanging lights.

The art frames

Summer's apartment has many references to famous artists. The first picture that appears is this. It appears to be a street, but I could not identify the author.

Here, a picture that looks like Van Gogh's Sunflowers series.

There are many frames near the fireplace. A landscape and a vase of colorful flowers. I also could not identify any of them. :-(

On the coffee table these objects are arranged in a funny way, that is reference to the picture "the Son of Man" by Rene Magritte.

In this scene, the picture in the background is the Blue Vase, from Cezanne. And if anyone finds out what are the other pictures, please let me know, I am curious. :-P
