Terrace

In the party scene on the terrace, there are two decorative arrangements. The first on "expectations", and the second on "reality". I found some backstage pictures where you can see better the decor. It has wicker chairs, a wooden table, candles, flowers, plants and Chinese lamps.

Well, as I do not live in a penthouse, I improvised in my balcony a similar decoration, using a wicker table with flowers, candles, string lights and small Chinese lanterns that bought in the neighborhood of Liberdade, which is the "chinatown" of my city. Okay, what counts is the intention right? :-P

Sideboard

This was kind of easy, as I could buy everything in a weekend! The sideboard I bought at Etna, although the model is different, the color is similar. I liked the drawer!

The Buddha I also bought at Etna. The box of mother of pearl, the small square door candles and candlesticks (which appear in another scene) I bought at Tok Stok. I already has a light blue cage, I just painted it with a golden spray. To give a special touch I put a bird inside. :-)

Bonus! At the "expectation" scene, there is a vase with some red gerberas. I was able to buy them at the same Ikea where the filming took place!

Photo frame

During the film there appears 3 picture frames. A larger one with a Ringo Starr drawing. A medium-sized double frame. And a little one, which to be honest I do not know if it's a picture frame at all. :-P

Well, as I found no picture frame like that, I commissioned one at a frame shop. They were great!

Side table

This table appears in many scenes, and on each one it has different objects over it. Candles, picture frames, vases... I like the last appearance, on the day of the party, with the tsuru tree,

It's made of iron, grayish blue, with small curves on the sides. As usual I couldn't find a table like this, so I had to hire a blacksmith again (the same one who made the bed). The end result was so charming!

Decoration of the day 408

During the expectations X reality party, we can see a little more of Summer's apartment, this time illuminated by daylight. In the picture I finally see the true color of the origami vase!
 

Here we can see some items from the sideboard. The double picture frame, a box of mother-of-pearl, a flower vase and the Buddha ...

In terrace scene there are two versions, one with table and chairs, and another only with chairs and a coffee table. Notice the lights that decorate the party.

In these scenes what caught my attention was the sideboard, the frame and hanging lights.

Bird hook

Summer has a bird hook at her apartment's entrance. It's a hook to hang keys, coats, purses... Mine was bought at Etsy, and has two cute birds. It's not equal to hers, but it has a hook, it has birds, and it is white. So it counts :D

Fireplace

Going back to early in the movie... on the first time Tom visits Summer's apartment, you can see over the fireplace some objects:  a frame with Van Gogh-like picture, a frame with some voodoo dolls, a pile of books with a metal butterfly over it.

This was one of the last things I did, because I didn't have any item like that. Until a day I found a buttetfly just like that one in a mall, and then I strived to get everything! hehe

For the Van Gogh picture I used a golden frame. The voodoo dolls I bought in a New Orleans shop, and the buttefly is from Zara Home. I think they end up very similar to the movie!

The art frames

Summer's apartment has many references to famous artists. The first picture that appears is this. It appears to be a street, but I could not identify the author.

Here, a picture that looks like Van Gogh's Sunflowers series.

There are many frames near the fireplace. A landscape and a vase of colorful flowers. I also could not identify any of them. :-(

On the coffee table these objects are arranged in a funny way, that is reference to the picture "the Son of Man" by Rene Magritte.

In this scene, the picture in the background is the Blue Vase, from Cezanne. And if anyone finds out what are the other pictures, please let me know, I am curious. :-P

Blue fairylight - Part 2

Continuing the fairylights saga!

After having painted the lights on the color I wanted, I was very satisfied with the result. Up to the point where they stopped working. Ouch! Besides having to buy new lights, I would have to paint them all over again. Bummer :-(

So I decided to buy those lights in the correct color from the start. It is very hard to find this exact shade of blue, even more outside the Christmas season (that was in July!)... -__-

But I did find them at Amazon. And they actually look pretty nice!

Blue fairylight - Part 1

Since we're close to Christmas, I will talk about the lights Summer's bedroom!

In the scene you can see in the background the lights on the headboard. I tried to buy one, but damn, it was VERY blue! I felt inside of a spaceship! Look at it! :-P

The lights of the movie were much softer, kind of a light blue ... I looked in many shops, but unfortunately I couldn't find this blue shade (seriously why is it so hard to find light blue fairylights??) XP

I thought about buying colorful cellophane paper and wrap every lamp with it, but I also did not find cellophane in this color, argh! It tried to paint it with glaze, but also failed. Since I am stubborn, I remembered about paint used for stained glass. And then it worked!

I bought some white lights, and I painted one by one with blue stained glass paint (gave two color coats to show up). I put the lights on the clothesline to dry from one day to another.

Look the final result after it was done! Better right? ;-)

Bedside table

In the bedroom, there is also the bedside table, which appears in the scene where they fight. It's done in a light wood. One of them has a telephone, the other has some candles, a jewel box, one clock and a Provençal white lamp with a stamped dome.

I bought the bedside tables from a store of handmade items, it's made of real wood. I made the lamp myself! I bought an white lamp, very basic, and drew a branch pattern with birds on the computer. I printed the art in acetate and fit it inside the dome. The drawing only appears when I turn on the light. Nice, isn't it?

Mobile Bar

The mobile bar appears in the scene where they get back to home, from the pub. Basically it has some golden rim glasses, some blue glasses, a few drinks and an ice bucket. The mobile bar I bought at Tok Stok!

It was a bit hard to find places that could sell me individual glasses in the colors I wanted. I made a composition with glasses of liquor, wine, water and whisky. It turned out beautiful.

But the apple of my eyes is my ice bucket, it is EXACTLY like the movie! OMG! I bought the ice bucket on Etsy! It is soooo cute and kitsch! X-D

Bonus Item! I bought the same drink she has in the bar. You can see better there at the end, in this scene:

The drink is a Belvedere, a luxury Polish vodka! It is produced in small batches to maintain quality. Besides being a delight, the bottle is beautiful!
